What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
I came here as a graduate from Newcastle Uni, almost 5 years ago. I had the opportunity to trial a position in all departments and have finally settled into the role I am currently pursuing. I am now also completing a business management and leadership degree at Northumbria. I have done 1 year of 3 so far.

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
I plan the jobs that go out on to the shop floor and lock down the process for new parts and product whilst always keeping in mind continuous improvement. I carry out the design reviews and contract reviews.

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
The team is so friendly, and good to work with. I feel settled in my role and I am happy to come to work every morning.

What’s a normal day like?
A normal day is very busy for me. It involves lots of planning, however, I must always make room for any urgent tasks and jobs that I need to fit in as some days can be unpredictable. I like this though I feel as though I thrive off it and it brings excitement to my work.

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
When a large project I was working on for our biggest customer was finally launched. It was such a huge project which was back and forth from the customer, but in the end we actually got it done in quite a short space of time considering the work involved.

What do you want to achieve in your role?
I want to continue to be successful in my role and carry on gaining the technical knowledge I have learnt since starting here.

I get involved in a range of tasks including milling, turning and site work.

It’s a good team – I enjoy working with my team mates.

What’s a normal day like?
I usually start at 6am and I’m kept busy all day.

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
I did a rush job for a Customer to help get them out of a tricky situation. It was important that the angle on the job was precise, but  I was able to fully complete the job without supervision and got it spot on.

What do you want to achieve in your role?
To be fully qualified and be able to mentor others in the future.

What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
I have worked for nearly 5 years at Dyer Engineering completing my apprenticeship and HNC in Mechanical Engineering.

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
My job is to ensure the product arrives with the customer at the best quality possible. I am responsible for the inspection of fabricated and machined parts, paint and CMM inspections, as well as Doc-packs and NCR’s.

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
The team work well together to get good quality products delivered on time.

What’s a normal day like?
Can be stressful and pressured, however, overall it all comes together.

Completing my apprenticeship and becoming a valued team member of the workforce.

I want to gain more qualifications in different areas of inspection i.e. welding, painting etc.

What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
After completing my BEng in Mechanical Engineering at Newcastle University in 2013 I started working for Dyer Engineering in the summer of that year.  I’ve been here since, working in both the TechProject and JobShop teams.  I’m now permanently based within our JobShop team

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
Drawing for manufacture, site measuring i.e.meeting with customers to determine solutions to any of their site safety or mechanical issues. Planning manufacturing methods, material purchasing and estimating

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
Thick as thieves, hard working and fun to be part of.

What’s a normal day like?
In a nutshell, hectic!!

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
Managing a £1/4 million project for a customer which involved fabricating/welding aluminium platforms and ladder for an offshore plant.  I managed all areas including engineering to manufacture, quality and documentation, production planning and deliveries.

What do you want to achieve in your role?
To build on my knowledge and become an Engineering Manager.

What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
I have worked here at Dyer Engineering all my life. I started a fabrication and welding apprenticeship at Dyer Engineering at just 17 years old, I then progressed to Team Leader and have recently been promoted to Site Supervisor. I have been here for 13 years.

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
Every day is busy. I have to plan and help run BatchLine to ensure that the delivery targets are met, and the quality of parts is correct.

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
At Dyer Engineering we are committed to training apprentices and developing our team’s skills, so we must all come together to help them gain the engineering experience that they need. As well as this I have to make sure everyone else is driving towards success.

What’s a normal day like?
A working day used to be very hectic for me, but I am learning to plan my day much better so that everything runs smoothly.

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
I am most proud of the achievements I have made here: promotion to Team Leader and then again to Site Supervisor.

I want to become a good role model to other employees and prove that you can be successful regardless of how challenging the journey is.

What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
I Studied Engineering at New College but then switched fields into construction for 6 years. I later realised engineering was my passion, put in my CV, came to my interview and was hired the same day. I have been here ever since.

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
I can operate a lot of the machining here meaning my day can vary from laser, bend, surface grinding, machining or pressure testing.

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
We are all one team and help each other out by sticking together.

What’s a normal day like?
Clock on and crack on. Ensuring that everything I am given is correct and everything I pass on is correct.

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
My proudest moments are when the team manages to pull together to get urgent jobs out the door, even ones that have came in that same day.

What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
I started here around 12 years ago. First as a labourer, then I moved into the paint shop for some time before becoming a Machine Operator I was taught from scratch by one of the Team Leaders.

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
I work in the 2D section, mainly on the laser and bend machinery. I am able to operate all the machinery in the 2D section (Projection weld, stamper etc). I am also a target zero rep, so I always work to ensure my work and others is up to the best standard.

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
We work together, everyone is friendly and gets on well.

What’s a normal day like?
I look forward to clocking on in a morning and find it is exciting facing the challenges that every new day brings.

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
I am proud of my progression from a labourer to a machinist as I never thought I would be in this position. I am now able to support the other people in the 2D area by showing them how to set up jobs and taking responsibility to check other peoples work.

What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
I have been here 6 Years, this September. I have completed a 4 year apprenticeship in CNC machining.

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
Machining in the small machine shop. I can operate all the machinery down here including setting up of machines and programming which I am learning at the minute.

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
We are a very close and friendly team. You can ask for help from anyone.

What’s a normal day like?
Although my shifts rotate between days and night, I enjoy coming to work regardless. Every day is different and that keeps me from getting bored. I like that my shifts rotate because it means I get chance to meet everyone.

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
When I finally completed my apprenticeship with Tyne North Training I was chuffed with myself.

What do you want to achieve in your role?
I would like to be the best CNC machinist and be able to programme very complex jobs and support others on the shop floor.

What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
I have been working here 4 years now. I started out as a General Administration Assistant and I have now moved on to doing an AAT course which I am in my second year of.

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
I help out in all departments with administration related tasks, however, I am in the process of moving into Accounts management and I am taking on more of this every day.

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
They are really helpful, and I get on with everyone here. I can even enjoy time outside of work with the people here- last year some of us took part in a mud run.

What’s a normal day like?
Everyday is filled with things to do but each day is different and I enjoy that. I organise my tasks and routine every day.

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
In 2015 I was awarded apprenticeship of the year which I was really proud of-my name is now engraved on the plaque in Reception.

What’s your background and how long have you worked at Dyer Engineering?
I served an apprenticeship as a Plater at British Steel Consett and continued to work there until closure, 7 years in total, then a further 17 years at that site for companies who took over from British Steel. I then worked for Sherburn Hill Engineering from 1997 until being made redundant after 18 years. I joined Dyer Engineering 3 years ago.

What kind of work do you do at Dyer Engineering?
New fabrications/ repair works/site solutions.

What is the team like at Dyer Engineering?
We all work as a good team supporting each other.

What’s a normal day like?
10 hours of hard graft.

What’s been your proudest moment working at Dyer Engineering?
I was sent down to a customer in Oxford to reverse engineer some giant hi-voltage conductor hangers from existing samples.  Upon arrival I realised that I’d made similar ones 20 years earlier for a different company!! I took the information to produce the drawings so they could be manufactured at Harelaw.  I understand that they were a perfect fit (photos are available).

What do you want to achieve in your role?
To be able to retire from Dyer Engineering when the time comes.
